In 2001, I began a year of intensive
reflection on my practice by taking advantage of an opportunity
to contribute an article to a book on “executive coaching.”
I chose “model building” as the topic. The resulting
chapter is a candid personal account of my effort to understand
the various influences on my coaching practice and how they impacted
my effectiveness. It provides a framework for model building that
aims to be useful to others in reflecting on their practice.
